Tufting workshop: create and frame your first textile work!
Duration: 4 hours
Level: Beginner — Group limited to 5 people
Location: Atelier Espace Fabrik, Montreal, QC
Come and discover the tufting technique and leave with your own textile creation in natural wool, ready to hang!
In this comprehensive workshop, you will create a 12x12 inch piece, and learn all the steps to bring it to life, from tufting to final framing.
What will we do for 4 hours?
1. Discovering the equipment and getting to grips with the tufting gun
We will begin with a presentation of the equipment and the tufting gun (model TN-1, "cut" finish). You will have time to practice on your canvas before starting to create your piece.
2. Design and choice of colors
On your canvas you will draw your own design.
One week before the workshop, I will send you a short preparation guide to help you design your design in advance. This will allow you to arrive on the day with a clear idea and fully enjoy the creative time.
It is important to think about your design before class so that you can complete your piece within the allotted time.
You will then be able to choose your wool colors from a beautiful selection offered at the workshop, a maximum of 5 shades per participant for a harmonious composition.
3. Tufting, finishing and framing
It's time to tuft your creation! I'll guide you through the process to help you master the technique.
Once the piece is finished, we will carry out the finishing touches together: gluing, shaving and framing.
At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your framed textile work, ready to decorate your wall!
The workshops are open to minors aged 16 and over, accompanied by an adult.
All materials are provided, just bring your good mood and your design idea!
With pleasure,
Alexandra
